Seeking Talented Composer for Exciting Independent Film Pilot
About the Project
We're looking for a creative and skilled Composer to score our very relevant independent film pilot. This project has potential for expansion, as if sold, more episodes will follow. We will be submitted to relevant film festivals, offering an excellent opportunity for exposure and artistic expression.
Key Responsibilities
- Compose original music that enhances the emotional impact and narrative of the film
- Collaborate closely with the director and production team to understand and realize the film's musical vision
- Create themes for characters or story elements as needed
- Adapt compositional style to suit different scenes and moods within the film
- Produce high-quality recordings of all composed music
- Work within specified deadlines to deliver music cues
- Potentially revise and expand the score if the pilot leads to a series or feature film
- Be available for potential live performances or Q&A sessions at film festivals
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in composing for film, TV, or other visual media
- Strong understanding of how music enhances storytelling in film
- Proficiency in music production and recording techniques
- Experience with orchestration and live instrument recording
- Excellent command of at least one professional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools, or Cubase
- Ability to work with a variety of musical styles and instrumentation
- Strong communication skills and ability to accept and incorporate feedback
- Experience working under tight deadlines without compromising quality
- Understanding of music copyright and licensing in the film industry
Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with sound design and its integration with musical score
- Previous work on independent films or projects submitted to film festivals
- Ability to perform or contract live musicians for potential festival performances
- Knowledge of audio post-production processes
Project Details
- Scoring for an independent film pilot (approximately 50 minutes)
- Potential for additional work if the pilot is expanded into a series or feature
- Project timeline: [Spring 2025] to [Fall 2025] off and on
- Remote work possible, with occasional in-person meetings as needed
- The film will be submitted to Berlinale and other relevant film festivals
Compensation
- Competitive rate based on experience and project scope
- Credit in the film and potential for royalties if the project expands
